Overlay Remover is designed with your privacy in mind. The extension only stores:
- User preferences and settings (enabled/disabled state, auto-remove settings)
- Site-specific rules for overlay removal
- Selectors of manually removed elements per domain
All data is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API and is only used to maintain extension functionality across sessions.
Overlay Remover does not collect:
- Personally identifiable information (name, address, email, age, etc.)
- Health information
- Financial and payment information
- Authentication information (passwords, credentials)
- Personal communications
- Location data
- Web browsing history
- Website content
The limited data we store is used exclusively to:
- Remember your preferences between browser sessions
- Apply your custom overlay removal rules to websites you visit
- Enable/disable features based on your settings
Your data never leaves your browser. We do not have any servers, analytics, or tracking systems.
Overlay Remover does not share any data with third parties. The extension operates entirely within your browser and does not communicate with external servers.
You can clear all stored data at any time by:
- Going to Chrome's Extensions page (chrome://extensions)
- Finding Overlay Remover and clicking "Details"
- Scrolling down to "Site access" and clicking "Clear data"
If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update it with the new extension release and version number.
